STORY BEHIND THE TEMPLE

What would you call a man of very meager means, who with just Rs 5000 in his pocket, sets out to build a temple of Lord Balaji in the city of Mumbai, where every square inch of land is worth its weight in gold and probably more? Throw in the fact that this person before starting on this mission of his was a total atheist, a man who had just returned from a near death mishap, and still carries battered intestines and a missing spleen, and for whom doctors had given the verdict that survival was next to impossible.

Gurunath Mandala was a person with a very modest education and a small job with Reliance in Mumbai. Making ends meet was an extremely tough and daunting task, and like every young person he had aspirations that he should do well and live a life of comfort. Around 10 years back a tragic accident was to make a paradigm change in his life. A Tata Sumo battered him on a road in Goregaon, a suburb of Mumbai. He was left unattended on the road in a precarious condition- his intestines had spilled out on the road; he was badly smashed up. A good Samaritan took him to KEM hospital.

DEVSTHANAM POOJA SERVICES

The temple administration of Devsthanam performs daily sevas to the presiding deity as a matter of divine exercise and also allows Grihastas (pilgrims) as partners in the exercise as a token of involvement of the devout service.
